‘A plus’- Father’s Day special short film focuses on the common stereotype that makes us judge children on the basis of their academic performances and the societal pressure to become ‘A plus’!
Titled ‘A plus’, Aamir Qureshi is now back with a Father’s Day special short film that holds a very important message for parents as well as for children.
It’s pretty common in our society and educational institutes, where a child is judged on the basis of his/her grades/marks. In a race to become the best, most kids often don’t get to enjoy their childhood. The worst thing happens when their own parents don’t understand their struggles and difficulties, leaving them to cope up with their emotions all alone.
The tagline says,
“No child is Perfect…Neither is the Parent!”

‘A plus’ revolves around the story of a father who lives with what society thinks and his son, who struggles to give the best when it comes to studies. But since not every child is blessed in the same way, he fails to live up to his father’s expectations and all the hells break loose.
Seeing his A grade instead of A plus, the father scolds him for being a failure. He reminds him of how blessed he is for the luxurious lifestyle and the fact that he’s studying in an A-plus school. He then immediately leaves for work immediately and doesn’t even have time to talk things out with his son.
When he reaches his office, he gets a taste of his own medicine after his boss rejects his design regardless of him insisting that he has worked really hard on it. He feels really frustrated after his boss tell him that he has disappointment him because all he expected was an A-plus design from him.
This realization hits him hard and he feels terrible for letting his son go through all this alone and not supporting him when he needs him the most.
On the other hand, disheartened by his failure, the boy finds another way to cope up with his stress and indulges in bad company. However, when he finds no solution, he decides to end his life and wrote an apology text to his dad.
Luckily, his father gets there on the right time realizing his mistake and the film ends with so many questions for us to think about.
After watching ‘A plus’ and Aamir Qureshi’s previous short film ‘Courage’, one thing that’s common in both is that they left us questioning things differently. The portrayal of social stereotypes in such a heartfelt and relatable manner will definitely convey the message and leave an impact on the audience.
