Talking to Omair Alavi, Amna Ilyas shared that she switched from modeling at a peak time in her career because she felt there’s no more creativity. She still calls ‘modeling’ her first love but is now completely dedicated towards acting because of her passion to work with creativity.
The contrast between her characters Neha in ‘Baaji-the Fim’ and Razia in ‘Ready Steady No’ is worth noticing and Amna loved working for both the films. The dusky beauty also shared that she wants to work with Imran Ashraf in the future.
Talking about sexual harassment and #Metoo movement, Amna saluted the victims who have gathered the courage to tell their story publicly. Amna believes that if a person comes up to share about their incidents, the first thing we can do is trust them and support them because that’s what they need badly.
However, the Ready Steady No actress has requested people to not use the #Metoo card for personal gains as it affects those who suffer in real.
Her ‘Baaji’ co-star Mohsin Abbas Haider made headlines recently after his wife accused him of domestic violence. Amna shared that she was in a state of shock after this news broke because she couldn’t believe it’s the same person she knows from work. Amna Ilyas shared that she’s a hardcore feminist and is completely against men who raise hand on women.
The diva also talked about workplace harassment and thinks many people don’t even know the difference between flirting and harassing. Amna acknowledged that casting couch syndrome does exist in our film and fashion industry and affects both, men and women. She is completely against when a person misuses their power to get benefits from the weak and termed it unfair to the victim.
Talking about her hometown, Amna shared her parents are from Punjab but she’s grown up and studied in Karachi. She also hinted that she will be seen in more films, web series and even in dramas in the future and we wish her the best of luck!
