Durj is an upcoming Pakistani Urdu-language mystery thriller film, written and directed by Shamoon Abbasi and produced by Dodi khan. The film stars Shamoon Abbasi, Sherry Shah, Maira Khan, Dodi Khan, Nouman Javaid, and Hafeez Ali. The film is based on true events and a large part of it is about cannibalism.
Durj is the story of a woman searching for her missing husband that had been killed for hunger by the kidnapper.
In an interview with Dawn News, Abbasi stated that the film was inspired by true events which took place in Punjab and that although the film is based on Cannibalism it has multiple stories merged into one; “Durj’s plot does not just revolve around cannibalism, it is about a cannibal but we have multiple stories. There are three stories which merge into one.” The film crew had to research which took about a year to collect data on cases before starting work on the storyline.
Shamoon Abbasi’s upcoming flick Durj has a very unconventional storyline based on true events. It tackles the menace of cannibalism in Pakistan and revolves around it. And now that the film’s release date has been announced, we can’t be happier!
Durj is ready to hit the theatres all over Pakistan on 18 October this year. The film will also get an international release in Gulf countries like UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait on 10 October. A day later it will be screened in the USA, UK, Canada, Norway, and Denmark.
