‘The Legend Of Maula Jatt’ and ‘Tich Button’ Eid Releases Halt Due to Pandemic
Among other things that are being postponed this year, Pakistani films ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ and ‘Tich Button’ are also facing a delay in their big Eid releases due to the pandemic.
Where Covid-19 has caused severe damage to the world economy, the entertainment industry is also facing huge losses due to postponement of their shooting, release schedule, and almost all their production activities.
Movie producers in both Hollywood and Bollywood have lost or are on the verge of losing millions of rupees. Pakistani film industry is no different, as the filmmakers are forced to keep on postponing production and releases due to the pandemic.
Fawad and Mahira Khan starrer, the much-anticipated film of the year ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ which was scheduled to release on Eid-ul-Fitr has been postponed. Produced by Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari, the film had already faced a delay in its release last year due to the copyright lawsuit filed by Sarwar Bhatti, the producer of the original Maula Jatt (1979). However, he withdrew all the legal cases against the filmmakers of The Legend of Maula Jatt this year in February.
The debut production of Urwa Hocane ‘Tich Button’ starring Feroze Khan, Farhan Saeed, Sonya Hussyn, and Iman Ali, as well as several movies in Islamabad and Rawalpindi – have been pushed back.
The announcement of release dates for these movies is expected if the government eases the lockdown given an improvement in the circumstances.
While talking to The Express Tribune, a senior official of the Central Board of Film revealed that the films have acquired the censorship certificates in March. And has obtained the approval of the agency for the screening of non-commercial and commercial movies. But, due to the pandemic, the screening of local films has been banned. As the federal government has shut down cinema halls and other large gathering areas for public safety.
Thus, the movies will only be screened after the federal government grants permission to the cinema houses to re-open in line with the new SOPs.
