FIR lodged against Akshay Kumar for hurting sentiments of Maratha community
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar found himself in trouble after his washing powder ad went viral on the internet for all the wrong reasons.
Akshay appears as a Maratha king in the latest Nirma washing powder ad who returns home after winning a battle. The king and his army receive a warm welcome at home however, a warrior’s wife is unhappy to see their dirty clothes.
In response, Akshay Kumar takes out the detergent to wash his clothes, saying that the king’s army cannot only defeat enemies but they also know how to wash their clothes.
This ad is receiving severe backlash on social media and people are calling out the Canadian-Indian-actor for mocking Maratha warriors and for maligning Maharashtra culture.
According to The Express Tribune, an FIR has also been lodged against Akshay Kumar at the Worli police station in Mumbai. The complainant, Suryakant Jagannath Jadhav, stated that the people of Maharashtra are deeply hurt by the advertisement and demanded action against Nirma Limited and Akshay Kumar.
However, many people loved the message behind this ad and are asking others to take it in a positive way
