Paresh Rawal Says Language Has Nothing to Do With Religion!
Recently, a Muslim teacher Feroz Khan in India has become the target of Hindu extremists after he was appointed as a professor in the Sanskrit Department of Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
Feroz Khan has done his masters and Ph.D. in Sanskrit however, the sole reason behind this protest is that he belongs to a Muslim family. According to reports, the Hindu hardline students at Banaras University are holding protest sit-in outside the vice-chancellor office against the appointment of Professor Feroz Khan.
Famous Indian actor Paresh Rawal has raised his voice in support of the Muslim professor and says that language has nothing to do with religion.
Taking to Twitter, Paresh Rawal spoke in support of Feroz Khan and expressed concerns over the protest held against his hiring at BHU. The Hera Pheri actor has also requested the students to not engage in this ‘idiocy’.
Here’s what Paresh Rawal wrote:
Stunned by the protest against professor Feroz Khan !what language has to do with Religion!?!?!? Irony is professor Feroz has done his masters and PhD in Sanskrit !!! For Heavens sake stop this god damn idiocy!
He added that Mohammad Rafi should not have sung any Bhajans by the same logic.
According to Gulf News, Feroz Khan’s father Ramzan Khan said that we have lived our lives according to Hindu culture and love the Sanskrit language; the reason why his son opted to study Sanskrit instead of Urdu.
He said the first he was made aware that we are Muslim was when protests began in BHU against his son’s appointment.
“The first time I was made aware that we are Muslim was when protests began in BHU against my son’s appointment as professor there. We have lived our lives according to Hindu culture and love the Sanskrit language. We have studied Hindu scriptures. For my family, our love for Sanskrit is our love for the country.”
