
Karan Johar Announces Horror Film Series, Vicky Kaushal to Star in First Part
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has announced to make a horror film series under the title of “Bhoot”.
Karan Johar also revealed that the first film of the series Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship (2019) will star Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
Not to be mixed with Ram Gopal Varma’s 2003 Bhoot starring Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar, a series of horror films will be produced under the same title by Karan Johar’ Dharma Productions.
The franchise will kick off this year with its first part directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh. Moreover, Karan Johar revealed that they will be shooting the film at ‘lesser-explored locations’ in Gujarat, India.

Vicky Kaushal has become the fan-favorite his with talent and impeccable acting skills in a number of Bollywood movies. It will be super interesting to see him perform now in a horror film and we are already loving the poster. The Raazi actor has killed the intense look in this poster and we wonder what he is up to now!

In a press release, Karan Johar said that he had acquired permission for the use of the “Bhoot” title from Ram Gopal Varma, the director of Bhoot (2003) and also its sequel, Bhoot 2 (2012).
Talking about his upcoming project, Karan Johar also shared:
“I made an unreasonable request to Ramu, asking him for his franchise title BHOOT and he graciously and magnanimously agreed to give it to us without even blinking an eyelid.”
He also added that he’s grateful to Ram Gopal Varma.
“All of us at Dharma are blown away by his generosity and are eternally grateful to him. We aspire to make sure the title is in the right hands of horror.”
Shashank Khaitan of Kalank fame is behind the production of Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship. The film will hit the cinemas on 15th November 2019.
