Mahira Khan, Osman Khalid Butt voice concern over the delay in Zindagi Tamasha’s release
Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt have spoken in support of Sarmad Khoosat’s award-winning film ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ which is still, unfortunately, facing a delay in its release across Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, Mahira and Osman teamed up to raise their voice and show support to Zindagi Tamasha and its team who have become the target of false propaganda by a religious party.
Mahira Khan has always been vocal about such issues and once again, she voiced her concern and said:
Osman Khalid Butt also came out to support her stance and is willing to take more steps
The Diyaar e Dil actor added that social media pressure is not enough. He thinks that any celebrity who takes the stage at the upcoming Pakistan International Screen Awards should also speak about it.
Recently, the leader of Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) stated that he would not let the film release under any circumstances.
The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) set up a four-member committee with qualifications in Islam and social sciences, on 28th January to review the film and submit a report. The Supreme body of the Council will make a further decision base on the report submitted.
The federal government has requested CII to review the film and settle the dispute.
Ironically, neither Khadim Rizvi nor any of his party members have watched ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ but they are holding protests against its release after assuming that it targets religious groups and hurts Islamic values.
Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha had won big at the Busan International Film Festival 2019 and people were anxiously waiting for its release across the country.
It’s unfortunate how our filmmakers face issues over the screening of their work in Pakistan and fight for their hard work.
