Social media comes out in support of Sarmad Khoosat after Punjab and Sindh censor boards halt the release of ‘Zindagi Tamasha’
The award-winning film ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ is, unfortunately, facing issues with its screening in Pakistan as censor boards in Punjab and Sindh have decided against its release for now.
According to Samaa, Sindh Board of Censors released a statement claiming that while the film had been cleared, they were informed that the release of ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ would cause “unrest” within some segments of society and may “deteriorate and be detrimental to the peaceful circumstances in the country.”
They added that the board has decided not to release the film until further notice in order to avoid such a situation.
Punjab Censor Board also announced that the film will not be released on the scheduled date and the board will review again due to “persistent complaints received from different quarters”.
The Punjab government has given a deadline of February 3, 2020, to the committee to review the film again. According to sources, the panel will also include a member of Tehreek-i-Labaik Pakistan (TLP).
This is a huge disappointment for all the Pakistanis who were looking forward to its release on 24th January and this news has ignited a debate on social media.
Many celebrities have come out to show support to the director Sarmad Khoosat and think ‘Zindagi Tamasha’ should be released.
