Robert Downey Jr., Others To Be Honored As Legends

“Disney will be honoring a group of actors as Disney Legends to recognize their extraordinary impact on Walt Disney Company. One such actor who will be awarded for his talent and hard work is our favorite Robert Downey Jr.”

The 11 Disney Legends award winners include famous stars such as Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, Wing Chao, Ming Na Wen, James Earl Jones, Bette Midler, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer, and Hans Zimmer.

Robert Downey Jr. was instrumental in the launch MCU a decade back through Iron Man. He has since reprised the role a number of times, including Avengers: Endgame.

Another recipient Jon Favreau is not new to Disney and Marvel. He was the director of the first Iron Man and was also the man behind the live-action versions of Jungle Book and The Lion King.

“The Disney Legends Award is the highest honor we can bestow. It’s a recognition of talent, a celebration of achievement, and an expression of profound gratitude to the remarkable men and women who have made an indelible mark on our company and our creative legacy.” says Bob Iger, Disney Chairmen and Chief Executive Officer.”

He further added

“This year’s honorees have earned a place in our hearts and our history for their significant contributions in film, television, and our theme parks around the world.”

Fred MacMurray was the first legend to win an award in 1987

The company is honoring its stars through these Awards since Fred MacMurray in 1987. The number of legends will cross 300 with 11 new entrants on August 23, 2019.
