After concluding Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 with The Avengers: Endgame, directors Russo Brothers want to return to the MCU with another franchise.
In a recent interview, the Russo brothers revealed that they are interested in either directing an X-Men or Fantastic Four movie. Great News, isn’t it?
Joe and Anthony Russo’s quest for a return to MCU Phase 4 is one of the better news after Sony-Marvel dispute. They are very much clear what they want to do, something that is possible after the merger of Disney and Fox.
They explained why they want to work on the X-Men or Fantastic Four series saying that it is a big part of their lives while growing up.
“I grew on up [John] Byrne’s X-Men run. Ben Grimm was a favorite character growing up, the Thing. And ‘Fantastic Four‘ is now in the Marvel fold. There’s a lot.”
Joe Russo said that if they return, it would be for the series of installments, not only for one film.
“Silver Surfer is an amazing character. Going big in cosmic would be a lot of fun. So there’s a lot of things that could attract us.”
He further said,
“I think after you go on the journey that we went on – because there is a comprehensive narrative, an overarching story from Winter Soldier all the way to the end of Endgame that involves Tony and Cap, through Civil War, through Infinity War – I think that scale of ambition in storytelling is a bug that’s biting us.”
