
‘Talash’ Becomes First Pakistani Movie to Screen at the UN Headquarters
Pakistani movie ‘Talash’ Screened at The UN Headquarters in New York
A very proud moment for our film industry as ‘Talash’ has become the first-ever Pakistani movie to screen at United Nations headquarters in New York City on Tuesday.
Directed by Zeeshan Khan, ‘Talash’ revolves around the story of three medical students who are sent to a remote village in Tharparkar district of Sindh where they face challenges in the feudal setup and eventually fulfill their professional duties.
The film stars Noaman Sami, Ahmad Zeb, and Fariya Hassan in the lead and was released on 15th November across Pakistan.
Focusing on the detrimental impact of malnutrition and stunting on children’s development, ‘Talash’ was presented before a large gathering attended by Pakistan’s ambassador to the UN Munir Akram, Botswana’s UN Ambassador Collen Vixen Kelapile, Assistant director-general, WHO Stewart Simonson, Assistant secretary-general, UNDP Haoliang Xu, and others.
According to APP, the screening was arranged by the UN staff Recreation Pakistan club in the chamber of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as part of the commemorations of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Right of the Child.
The chief guest Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UN, told the gathering that PM Imran Khan pledged to reduce child stunting and improve maternal health when announced his reform agenda in his first address to the nation.
Munir Akram added that a number of projects have been launched in the country to eradicate hunger and malnutrition in all its forms, especially in under-developed parts of the country.

The director Zeekay thanked the UN-Pakistan Club for this opportunity to screen his film in front of an international audience that not only talks about serious issues but also comes with a lot of entertainment with a talented young cast.
‘Talash’ also stars veteran actor Mustafa Qureshi, Adnan Shah Tipu, Salim Mairaj, Mumtaz Kanwal and Humaira Bano while young actors like Noaman Sami, Ahmed Zeb, and Faria Hassan.
