The main leads of The Matrix series are also returning, especially Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie Anne-Moss as Trinity.
Lana Wachowski the original co-director of the Matrix trilogy is ready to pen down the script and direct the new sequel.
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends,” says Wachowski.
The fourth film in The Matrix series was long due especially after John Wick 3 Parabellum director Chad Stahelski confirmed that work was in progress regarding The Matrix sequel.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures announced the upcoming sequel of The Matrix. The companies do not have an idea about the plot though but they have full faith in the Wachowskis who they believe are amazing visionaries.
Warner Bros Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich says,
“We could not be more excited to be reentering The Matrix with Lana. She is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing, and producing this new chapter in The Matrixuniverse.”
The film is expected to go on floors in 2020.
